2021 Drop-Off Volunteers
Don’t be an elf on the shelf… be a Santa Shoebox Elf!
In October and November we need reliable, energetic, smiling volunteers at our Drop-Off locations in Johannesburg [Joe Public United Building], Pretoria [Woodlands Boulevard Shopping Complex] and Cape Town [Canal Walk - Centre Court].
Every shoebox pledged, packed and delivered to us by donors must find its way to a very specific recipient, wherever s/he may be. To achieve this, Drop-Off volunteers meticulously:
- Scan every box in to our system
- Check every box for compliance
- Pack and label cartons for dispatch
We love Drop-Off! We get to meet donors, receive lovingly created boxes and get goosebumps as empty spaces fill up with Santa Shoeboxes - each one destined to make a child’s heart beat a little warmer.
How do I become an elf?
- Click on Sign Up [or use the link in the menu above]
- Enter your details
- Select a Drop-Off location
- Check the dates for your location
- Select the day/s on which you would like to work
- Select the shift/s you would like to work
- Select your preferred role for each shift
- Read and sign the indemnity
- Submit
And then?
You will receive an email that confirms your selected shift/s and role/s, and a copy of the indemnity you signed. The email will also contain a unique QR code. You will need this code when you report for duty, so print and bring it along on the day, or save the image to your phone.
If you have any questions about your specific Drop-Off location, you can contact the Drop-Off coordinator whose details will appear on your email.
If you do not receive an email, please check your spam folder.
What if I made a mistake?
If you need to change your shifts, send an email to elf@santashoebox.org.za and we'll find a way to help you.
Remember!
- Arrive 15 minutes before your shift
- Wear closed [and comfortable!] shoes
- Bring a pen and water
- Leave your valuables at home or lock them in your car
- While we’ll do our best to match you to your preferred role, we may also deploy you where we need your help the most
COVID-19
The health and safety of our volunteers is of utmost importance and all drop-off locations will adhere to COVID-19 protocols.
- Don't arrive if you feel ill, or have a fever
- Be prepared to have your temperature taken
- Do expect to complete a health screening form
- Do keep your distance
- Do sanitise frequently!
